Beni: SP failed to protect Muslims

Beni said UP has failed to usher in industrialisation only because of the Mandir-Masjid issue.

A day after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi visited riot relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts,Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma demanded that the Akhilesh government should resign for failing to protect the Muslims during the riots.

He also announced setting up of five steel camps in riot-hit areas within a week from the corporate social responsibility fund available with the Steel Ministry.

Muslims helped them the Samajwadi Party form the government, but they have failed to provide them even proper shelter or clothing. Beni told reporters in Lucknow.

He added: Since the UP government has failed in its responsibility, the Steel Ministry would distribute blankets and woollen clothes to children. Five camps of steel would also be established at riot-hit areas to give proper shelter to homeless from the cold.

Alleging that the riots were instigated by those who trade votes,Beni said the state government should resign from power.

Beni said UP has failed to usher in industrialisation only because of the Mandir-Masjid issue while again referring Mulayam as Mussolini and BJPs prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as Hitler.

When asked about the possibility of an alliance between the BSP and Congress for the Lok Sabha elections,Beni denied any such possibility. Till the time I am here, there can be no other alliance other than with Ajit Singh in UP.
