Custody extended for Maoists
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Friday extended the judicial custody of arrested CPI Maoist cadres,Gopal Mishra and and his wife Kanchan Bhalla,by 14 days. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja said a probe report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory on the notebooks,CDs/DVDs,laptop,pendrive and other incriminating articles recovered from them is awaited from Chandigarh. Gopal Mishra,48,from Malda in West Bengal,and his wife were arrested by the Delhi Police from Shahdara on April 27. Mishra is said to be a close aide of Naxal ideologue Kobad Ghandy,who was arrested last September from the Capital.
20 hurt in accident
New Delhi: Nearly 20 people were injured,three of them seriously,in a collision between a mini bus and a truck in Outer Delhi on Friday morning. The incident took place around 8 am near Mongolpuri when the truck hit the RTV. The injured were rushed to a hospital and the condition of three of them was stated to be critical.
L-G inspects flats
New Delhi: L-G Tejendra Khanna on Friday inspected the work on 2,000 flats renovated by the DDA in Vasant Kunj for accommodation of Games technical staff. He directed the DDA to expedite works.
Ready for Games: BSES
NEW DELHI: BSES,which has been assigned to provide power to all major Games venues,said its projects are on track. BSES has executed projects around Rs 74 crore to create power infrastructure at various venues by installing new panels,feeders and cables, the Discom said. There are 12 Games venues in the BSES area,including the Games Village.
Woman kidnapped
New Delhi: A 19-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped by a man known to her a few hours before her wedding on Thursday. Police said the woman was found at the accuseds residence in Shastri Park. The accused was arrested later following a complaint by the victim. We are finding out the truth but the woman told us the accused,Naeem,kidnapped her and took her to his house, a police officer said.
Relief to actor
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has stayed criminal proceedings against actor Suniel Shetty in a case filed against him for allegedly threatening a man. Shetty had challenged the proceedings at Karkardooma courts,alleging the litigation was initiated with an intention to extort money from him.
HC nod to project
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has given the go ahead to Kenneth Builders and Developers to start construction work at its residential project in South Delhi,which had run into trouble because of lack of environment clearance.
