With Arjun Singh eased out of the HRD Ministry and a new minister set to take over,Singhs appointees are also scouting for new positions. It is learnt that UGC Chairman Prof S K Thorat is actively lobbying for a position in the Planning Commission while NCERT head Prof Krishna Kumar is angling for the top job at the upcoming SAARC university. Kumar, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, was perceived to be close to Singh as well as having the approval of Left parties during his rather eventful NCERT stint in June. Now,changes are all set to sweep through the HRD Ministry, with Singhs blue-eyed bureaucrat Sunil Kumar expected to head to his state cadre Chhattisgarh soon, and his PS R K Goel angling for a top position on some government school board. IPS Pragya Richa Srivastava, who was propped by Singh to head the CBSE,however, had her chances nixed, with the PMO and Department of Personnel and Training raising objections to her candidature and the selection process.
