Angering the crowds

Indian Idol winner Abhijeet Sawant was beaten up by an irate crowd in Mumbai after his friend and show participant Prajakta Shukre rammed her car into a scooter injuring two teenagers.

Indian Idol winner Abhijeet Sawant was beaten up by an irate crowd in Mumbai after his friend and show participant Prajakta Shukre rammed her car into a scooter injuring two teenagers. Shukre and a few of her friends,including Sawant,were racing with each other when Shukre lost control of her vehicle and hit the scooter. Locals who witnessed the accident gathered at the spot and assaulted Sawant who was trying to appease the crowd. Police immediately arrived on the spot and Shukre was arrested and booked for rash and negligent driving and was released on bail on a bond of Rs 3000.

On a Rolls

After the birth of their twins Shahraan and Iqra,who were born on October 21,Sanjay Dutt gifted wife Manyata a Rolls-Royce Ghost Luxury that he had promised her. The car costs around Rs 3 crore. Manyata accompanied her husband to the showroom in Mumbai to fetch her gift last week.

Sued!

Rizwan Ahmed,a self-proclaimed social activist in Lucknow,has filed a case against actor-model Yana Gupta,the photographer who clicked her pictures and the organiser of an event, for obscenity under section 292/ 293 and 294 of the IPC in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate,Lucknow. Yana recently attended a charity function without wearing her undies. What was worse was that she posted the pictures on a social networking site.

Fined for smoking

Even as his film Moner Manush won the Golden Peacock at the IFFI,noted director Gautam Ghose was booked for smoking in the the lawns of the Kala Academy,in Panaji,Goa on the closing day of the ceremony. He was spotted by Police Inspector Sandesh Chodankar,who instantly booked him for violating the anti-tobacco law. Bengali actor Ananya Chatterjee was also booked for smoking in public.

Bereaved

Ayesha Shroff,wife of Jackie Shroff,lost her mother,Claude Marie Dutt De Cavey,recently after she suffered a cerebral stroke and slipped into coma before reaching the hospital. She was based in Belgium and moved to Mumbai two years back to be with her daughter.
