The Forward Bloc ,one of the constituents of the Left Front,on Wednesday asked the CPIM to look in the mirror and analyse why the Left could never expand beyond Kerala and Bengal and lost ground in its traditional strongholds. It sarcastically pointed out that these were issues which were equally important as the future of socialism and developments in Latin America.
Along with the future of socialism,Latin American developments, ideological questions and inner party issues, the CPIM should think loudly about the real strength of the Left in India and what are the reasons behind our weakness? Forward Bloc secretary G Devarajan said.
Devarajan said the Left has failed to organise any nationwide campaign against the UPA government, ceding space to non-political actors. The CPIM should think loudly about this vital issue as their party congress and state and district conferences are on, he said.
We should think why we lost Bengal after an uninterrupted 34-year rule and why we failed to make a model government in Bengal? We should also think why we are losing Kerala every alternative term and why we failed to expand our bases in Hindi heartland? An open-minded non-egoistic review is utmost necessary, Devarajan said.
