AC cars for babus

After giving them a substantial increase in their transport allowance through the 6th Pay Commission,the government has taken another decision to make the travel of babus more comfortable. In an order issued last month,the government has made an officer in the rank of joint secretary or equivalent entitled to an air-conditioned car or taxi. This facility was earlier restricted to Secretary-level officers only. The order,issued by the Department of Expenditure,Ministry of Finance,says that all non-AC vehicles currently being used by these officers will be

retrofitted with air-conditioners depending on the condition of the vehicle.
