It was an SMS from AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi that did the trick for Manicka Tagore,who surprised many by defeating MDMK leader Vaiko from Virudhunagar Lok Sabha seat. After the Congress had finalised its candidate for Virudhunagar,who was the nominee of Tamil Nadu PCC chief K V Thangkabalu,Rahul sent an SMS to a senior Congress office-bearer suggesting that they consider Manicka as a candidate.
