At least five people have died and large stretches of farmland have been affected.

Orissa: 647 villages still marooned

Though the flood situation in Orissas five northern districts improved slightly Wednesday,647 villages continued to be marooned. With water level in major rivers receding,the state government decided to demobilise defence forces comprising personnel from the Army,Navy and Air Force.

Jharkhand: At least 5 killed

At least five people have died and large stretches of farmland have been affected in Jharkhand,Arun Kumar Singh,principal secretary in the Disaster Management Department,said Wednesday. While the latest figure will be known soon,five persons died till yesterday Tuesday, he said. On crop damage,Singh said the final figure is expected to cross 50,000 hectares.

Nepal: Heavy rain in many parts

Cyclone Phailin has resulted in heavy rainfall for the past three days in many parts of Nepal. According to Weather Forecasting Division of Nepal,the heavy rain in mid-Terai region and sporadic rain in Kathmandu valley was due to the storm.
