A three-week festival of India will be held at the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC in March next year,as the Indian Council of Cultural Relations ICCR joins hands with the Centre and the Indian Embassy in the US. A festival of India was last held in the US in 1984.
This festival,to be called the 8216;Maximum India8217;,will be held between March 1 and 21 in 2011 at the US Capital8217;s reputed cultural hub. The decision was announced by Alicia B Adams,vice president international programming of the The John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts,in New Delhi on Monday. 8220;It will be an unprecedented celebration of Indian arts and culture that will include dozens of performances in music,dance,theatre as well as exhibitions featuring art installations,cuisine,8221; she said.
ICCR chief Suresh K Goel said,8221;While the three-week festival will be held at the Kennedy center,we are also planning to hold more cultural events in other cities of the US.8221;
