The World Anti-Doping Agency has criticised world football8217;s ruling body seven months before the World Cup finals saying FIFA has made little effort in trying to align its rules with WADA8217;s anti-doping code.
WADA chief Dick Pound has accused FIFA chief Sepp Blatter of a 8220;lack of transparency8221; and added that 8220;the situation is potentially critical8221; ahead of next year8217;s finals in Germany.
The WADA chief said the main problems with FIFA relates to their application of sanctions for doping offences, the authorisation to allow the therapeutic use of some drugs and WADA8217;s right to lodge appeals with the Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS.
Pound8217;s comments come in the wake of WADA openly accusing FIFA at the weekend of a lack of transparency.
