
VADODARA, Oct 28: The VMC on Thursday decided to auction its 94 plots in town planning schemes on a 99-year lease basis. Sources said the move was to likely to fetch the VMC Rs 10 crore in revenue, which would be used for development works under the TP schemes.
This was decided on at a Standing Committee meeting, chaired by Dr Jigeesha Sheth, pending the General Board8217;s approval. The plots will be auctioned for residential and commercial basis.
In another significant decision, the committee accepted the administration8217;s proposal handing the contract to print 24,000 VMC diaries to a private Vadodara-based firm at Rs 40 per diary.
Sources said the decision to contract the printing was aimed at saving manpower and improving quality.
The Committee also approved Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria8217;s participation in a workshop in China next month. The workshop will focus on human development and related issues.
Jail Minister Jaspal Singh will lay the foundation stone of the bridge linking Karelibaug with Sama on November 1. The bridge is an alternative to the EME Road which is to be closed to vehicular traffic by the EME from January 1, 2000.
The road joining the bridge will be laid by the Vadodara Urban Development Authority VUDA. The total cost of the project will be an estimated Rs 1.29 crore, of which VUDA will contribute nearly Rs 71 lakh.
