
CHENNAI, OCTOBER 12: India8217;s Viswanathan Anand has regained his World No 2 ranking. In the ranking list published by world chess federation FIDE on October 10, Anand is ranked second behind Garry Kasparov with a rating of 2,774. Vladimir Kramnik of Russia, who held the second spot for a brief period, is ranked third with 2767.
In the women8217;s list, India8217;s Vijayalakshmi Subburaman broke the barrier of 2,400 for the first time. She is the first Indian woman to touch the 2,400 Elo-mark. Vijayalakshmi is ranked 39th in the latest list with an Elo of 2,402.
Krishnan Sasikiran has made considerable gains and is inching towards the 2,600-mark. He is ranked 98th with a rating of 2,594.In the top 20 boys, there are two Indians, Sasikiran in the fifth place and P Harikrishna at 20th with 2,506.
