SHIMLA, MARCH 8: Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today accused the BJP-HVC government of resorting to saffronisation of educational institutions in a brazen manner and in developing regionalism. He demanded setting up of a judicial inquiry to probe charges of regional discrimination by the Congress, especially in matters of development.

Participating in the debate on the Governor8217;s address in the state Assembly, Virbhadra Singh, who is also leader of the Congress Legislative Party, came out with several instances relating to appointments of the vice-chancellor, Pro vice-chancellor, professors in the Himachal Pradesh University and other institutions and launched a blistering attack against the government for ignoring merit, seniority and other parameters to dole out key positions either to members of Sangh Parivar or other RSS functionaries. He ridiculed the manner in which Parmar varsity V-C , Hamirpur REC principal and chairman of HP State Board of School Education were quot;forced to resignquot;.
