
IMPHAL/CHANDIGARH, FEBRUARY 15: Filmstar and MP Vinod Khanna, BJP national secretary P.B. Acharya and general secretary of Nagaland unit Dooth Singh will lead the party8217;s campaign in Manipur for the second phase of Assembly elections slated for February 22.
Khanna is expected to arrive here on February 17 and address a number of meetings before campaigning ends on February 20. The BJP is contesting 27 of the 32 seats going to the polls on February 22. In the outgoing Assembly, the BJP had no representation. The CPI M is contesting only in the second phase of elections and has fielded four candidates. S.P. Lepcha, MP, is campaigning for their candidates. Party leader Biman Bose will arrive here tomorrow for electioneering.
All India Congress Committee AICC leader Rajesh Pilot is arriving here on February 16, Congress sources said. AICC observer Bhubaneshwar Kalita is already here to supervise electioneering in the state. Meanwhile, former wrestler Dara Singh will be exercising a different set ofmuscles, his vocal chords, in the run-up to the Assembly polls in Haryana by campaigning for ruling INLD-BJP coalition candidates from February 15 to 20.
INLD office secretary Dharambir Singh said Dara Singh would be addressing daily public meetings in two villages each in three Assembly constituencies during his six-day tour.
