CHANDIGARH, OCT 4: With the weather taking a turn for the better, the rates of a majority of vegetables have climbed down as the traders have witnessed an increase in supply from hilly areas.

Most of the vegetables have recorded a decrease in prices, both in the wholesale and retail market. Tomato, which was priced at Rs 10 per kg in the wholesale market, not long back, is now available for even Rs 5 per kg. Cauliflower, which was priced at Rs 20 per kg, is now available at Rs 12 per kg.

The rates of brinjal have come down to Rs 10 per kg although peas are still placed at Rs 20 to Rs 30 per kg. Beans are priced at Rs 12 per kg and Ladyfinger is down to Rs 10 per kg. The market has a variety of summer and winter vegetables to be chosen from, with the changing weather making the availability of both possible.

Capsicum is available for Rs 30 per kg in the retail market and the rates of onion have gone up from Rs 12 per kg to Rs 14 per kg. The rates of new crop of ginger and that of lemon are stable at Rs 40 per kg, even though there is little sign of rates of corainder climbing down. Cucumber is also available in plenty, which is priced at Rs 10 per kg in the Sector 26 market.
