
JAMMU, Feb 3: Kashmir Valley is all set to be included in India8217;s railway map. Land identification for all 14 railway stations in the area has been done with the completion of location of the Quazigund-Baramulla section of the Rs 2500 crore Udhampur-Baramulla railway line project.
An official spokesman said here on Tuesday that tenders for the construction of Srinagar railway station had been issued and work on the same would start shortly. According to the master plan, the station building will blend modern facilities with traditional Kashmiri architecture. The estimated cost of the station project is put at Rs six crore.
At a coordination committee meeting, attended by state chief secretary Ashok Jaitly, railway officials informed that another grant of Rs 20 crore would be provided for acquisition of land in the Valley for the project, the spokesman said.
