
Re-polling at four booths in State
Re-poll at four polling booths 8212; two in Kheda Lok Sabha constituency and one each in Anand and Bhavnagar constituencies 8212; was conducted peacefully on Tuesday. The re-poll had been ordered by the Election Commission following complaints of bogus voting at these booths during elections on Sunday. State Joint Chief Electoral Officer J P Jadeja said during the re-poll at booth no. 107 A in Kheda, 328 of the total 443 voters exercised their franchise, while at booth no. 132 in the same constituency, 560 of the total 992 voters cast their votes. Jadeja said 713 out of 984 voters turned up at booth no. 68 in Anand constituency, while the turnout at booth no. 177 in Bhavnagar was 471 of the total 776 voters.
SSG CT Scan
The CT Scan machine, installed at the Trauma centre of SSG Hospital about a fortnight back, began operations last week. According to an official spokesman, renowned radiologist Dr N A Dave inaugurated the CT Scan. Besides SSG superintendent Dr Kamal Pathak, all Heads of Departments attended the launch. Till date, the facility was available only at a few private hospitals.
In police custody
A city court on Tuesday remanded narcotic dealer Ibrahim Saadat Khan Makrani, who was arrested on Monday, to police custody till September 13. He was found to be in possession of brown sugar worth Rs 50,000 in local market and Rs 10 lakh in the international market.
Typing course
The Pre-Examination Training Centre Scheduled Caste, run by the state Schedule Caste Welfare Department, has started stenography and typing courses in Gujarati and English. A press release said Standard XII graduates could go in for Gujarati stenography, while SSC graduates were eligible for Gujarati or English typing. The annual family income of applicants should not surpass Rs 24,000. Interested candidates should contact the centre8217;s office at 2nd Floor, C Block, Narmada Bhavan.
VMC holiday
Offices of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation and Gujarat Electricity Board will be closed on September 14 on account of Samvatsari, instead of September 13, as declared earlier. The change follows a State government circular.
