State govt to donate Rs 5 cr for Kargil fund
Gandhinagar:
The State Government has decided to contribute Rs 5 crore to the Central Relief Fund for the welfare and rehabilitation of the families of those Army jawans who have laid down their lives in Kargil. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday. Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel said the Government had also decided to launch a special fund-raising drive in the State from July 23 to August 15 and the funds raised would be deposited in the Chief Minister8217;s Relief Fund for the welfare of families of the Kargil martyrs.

CII on octroi
Ahmedabad:
Confederation of Indian Industry CII has claimed that Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel has agreed to postpone the decision on replacing octroi by entry tax and turnover tax due to misgivings in industry and has invited proposals on alternatives to octroi.

WR postpones
Vadodara:
The railways on Wednesday announced postponement of introduction of trains, extension and increase of frequency which were to be effective from July 1. A release from the Vadodara division of Western Railways said that the trains which were to be introduced are 4316 Gandhidham-Delhi bi-weekly express, 9755 Jaipur-Bangalore express and 1142 Gwalior-Indore express. The trains whose frequency was supposed to be increased are 1095 Pune-Ahmedabad Express which would now continue to run thrice a week and 4311 Bareily-Ahmedabad express.

Boil water8217;
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation has asked the citizens not to get panicky if they receive turbid water. According to a VMC spokesman, the turbid water is being received from Raika french well in Mahisagar due to rainfall. The residents have been asked to consume water after boiling.
