
Curfew eased in Amod
Shops and business establishments of Bharuch8217;s Amod town, site of communal clashes that claimed two lives last week, opened on Monday following relaxation of curfew from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Amod police inspector said a number of vehicles had been seen on the road, along with people stocking up on supplies. Senior Congress leaders Ahmed Patel, Prabodh Raval and Harubhai Mehta visited the family of the two killed and other victims of the riot and also met the officials of the district and police administration.
CM must resign8217;
Former Vadodara Congress MP Satyajit Gaekwad has said Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel should resign on moral grounds, as his government had failed to control law and order in the state and protect the interest of minorities. Gaekwad and other party councillors, criticising the communal violence in Amod, have alleged that the police was terrorising the minorities by breaking open their houses.

Vilasini Ramachandran took over as Member Administration of the Gujarat Electricity Board on Monday. She replaces S K Nanda, who is now managing director of the GSFC.Ramachandran was earlier managing director of Gujarat Communications and Electronics Limited GCEL.
BMA convention
The Baroda Management Association is organising its sixth national management convention at the C C Mehta Auditorium, MSU on January 29 and 30. The convention, on Fix Your Company, Not the Economy8217;, is expected to see participation of about 300 delegates from all over the country. GIPCL Managing Director J N Singh will chair the function.
