
CHANDIGARH, May 14: The minimum wages of the unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled labourers have been revised from Rs 1,632 to Rs 1,697, Rs 1,777 to Rs 1,843 and Rs 1,939 to Rs 2,005, respectively, in view of the hike in consumer price index for the year ending March 1998.
According to official spokesman for the UT Administration, the monthly wages of clerks, time keepers, salesmen, conductors, and storekeepers have been revised from Rs 1,844 to Rs 1,910 and those of daily wagers to Rs 73.42. The wages of accountants, graduate clerks, assistant supervisors, car drivers, cashiers, muneems and steno typists have been fixed as Rs 1,992.35 instead of Rs 1,926.55 earlier, whereas it has been fixed at Rs 76.57 for daily workers. The monthly wages of truck, bus and tempo drivers, supervisors and stenographers have been fixed at Rs 2,193 instead of Rs 2,127 whereas for daily paid workers it was fixed at Rs 84.32.
Similarly, the wages of daily unskilled, semi-skilled and unskilled has been revised to Rs 65, Rs 70 and Rs 77 respectively, the spokesman added.
