It is clear from the nuclear deal that America wants to prevent our atomic programme and render it ineffective. The Prime Minister has said atomic energy generation is necessary for poverty alleviation but never said that atomic power generation was costlier than other sources. We are not against an atomic energy programme but energy security can never be based on imported plants or imported fuel. The deal mentions India8217;s Iran policy too. Will the Prime Minister explain how will this reflect on sovereignty? Will the Prime Minister give this gift to the country on the 60th year of Independence? Jai Hind

8216;What is the logic behind Left opposition?8217;

The day Prakash Karat handed over the CPIM Politburo resolution to PM Manmohan Singh, it became the case of either the Government stays or the deal with the US. But looking at subsequent developments, even if the PM sticks to the 8220;best deal8221;, there is no imminent danger to the Government. The question is, what is the logic behind the Left insistence, to the extent of causing danger to the Government? They are not going to get a majority in the next election on their own. Even if the Left parted ways with UPA, the scenario won8217;t change much. The focus is shifting from the nuclear deal to the very survival of the Government. In such a position, it is only desirable that the UPA constituents came out together with their CMP with a honest approach. Divya Bhaskar

8216;Painful to see our leaders as objects of ridicule8217;

The Left is confused, because it has no objection to the collapse of the Government but at the same time it is not ready to face the consequent mid-term election. It is immaterial whether the Manmohan Singh Government falls or stays but what is more painful and distressing is the prospect of our national leaders becoming objects of ridicule at the international level because of their conflict.
