
VADODARA, Dec 27: The programme for the Upgradation of Financial Systems in ONGC UFSO went live in Vadodara on December 21 with N Lal, Executive Director feeding in the first voucher. This project will enable re-engineering of the organisation8217;s financial control processes and make them more accurate, analytical, transparent, with activity-based costing and more comprehensive. The Vadodara centre has been identified as the pilot site after successful completion of the project8217;s prototype at the Corporate office. SAP-R3 which is an enterprise resource planning package has been approved by ONGC and will be implemented as a financial and costing module. Along with M/s Price Waterhouse, the consultants for this project, the UFSO team of ONGC has started entering transactions into the system.
Christmas celebrated: Christmas was celebrated with religious fervour at the ONGC colony. As part of the celebrations by the Officers8217; Club, a surprise visit by Santa Claus was organised. He visited about 20 families and distributed gifts and goodies to the children.
Antaksari programme: An Antaksari programme was held at the Officers8217; club on December 26. Four teams of two participants each participated in the contest, which comprised of the same word round, the dhun round, the jumbled word and the visual round. Popular artiste Lata Kanitkar compered the programme.
Award: M M Vispute, junior technician welding working at F-6100-II Rig, DBG, Ankleshwar won the Overall Performance Award8217; and the Best Firer of Rifle Award8217; during the Annual Territorial Army Training held in Vadodara recently.
Conference: A three-day national conference to focus on synergizing HRD intervention of growth was organised jointly by the ONGC and Scope Complex last week. The conference was attended by technocrats belonging to both HRD and other streams from public sector units from different parts of the country. Outlining the objectives of the conference, Jauhari Lal, Director personnel, ONGC stressed upon the need for gaining understanding of transformation challenges in today8217;s business environment. He added that to achieve competitive advantage the role of HR must be aligned and integrated with business plans and processes of organisations. Discussions and presentations on such vital issues as organisational transformation challenges, HRD initiatives to effect superior business performance, innovation in training, and development were made during the conference.
