
SATARA, Sept 25: Former Minister Udayanraje Bhosle, main accused in sensational Sharad Levhe murder, was remanded in magisterial custody till October 7. Udayanraje was later shifted to Satara Civic Hospital where he is expected to undergo treatment for his chest pains.
Bhosle was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Kamal Wadgaonkar here after his two-days police custody remand ended on Thursday morning.
Udayanraje had informed the CID team during interrogation that he was at the Hotel Rajtara in Satara on the night of September 10-11 when Levhe was killed, defence counsel D V Patil told the court.
The former minister, 13th descendent of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was arrested on September 11 for allegedly killing Levhe who had been campaigning for NCP8217;s Abhaysinhraje Bhosle, the main rival of Udayanraje for the Satara Assembly seat.
The police have so far arrested eleven other youths in connection with the killing while three more suspects were at large.CID counsel Vasant Ponkshe submitted that Udayanraje8217;s police custody be extended further to facilitate investigation.
CID sleuths could interrogate him at the hospital only after obtaining permission from the panel of doctors attending on him, Patil said. Meanwhile, Abhaysinhraje, Udayanraje8217;s uncle, today reiterated his demand for a CBI probe into the case.
