Pushed by Kenyan 8220;Rabbit8221; David Kiptoo, who set a perfect pace in the first lap, Kipketer burst ahead and easily beat the mark that had stood for 16 years until he first equaled it earlier this summer and then finally broke it in Zurich, Switzerland.

Kipketer earlier this summer first equaled Sebastain Coe8217;s 1981 mark of 1:41.73, and then erased the longest-standing record in the books with his performance on August 13 in Zurich. No records fell in Athens, but it appearsthat the Kenyans, are at their peak.
