
MUMBAI, JUNE 11: Two gangsters belonging to the Ashwin Naik gang trying to escape from the city were arrested at Mumbai Central on Wednesday evening.
The gangsters, Saeed Rifakat Hussein Sayyed alias Saeed Chikna alias Vicky and Harish Timappa Shetty, were intercepted by the squad of Additional Commissioner of Police Arup Patnaik when they were about to board a private bus for Hyderabad at around 4.30 pm on Wednesday.
A loaded Russian-made 7.65 caliber pistol and a US-made .38 bore revolver have been recovered from the duo.
Sayyed, a key hitman of Naik, is accused in the double murder at Madras Cafe, Bhandup, in which the Kurup brothers were killed. He has also been named as an accused in the killing of Maya Bhalerao and Rauf Chand Mastan at Oshiwara and in a firing case in Nagpada. He had also shot at the owner of Amar Punjab Hotel, Thane.
Both gangsters are key associates of Naik8217;s right hand man Lalit Dansingh alias Lali, one of the ten most wanted gangsters in the city.
Shetty, a resident ofGandhi Nagar, Bandra east, was a dye-maker before he entered the world of crime.
The squad that nabbed the two was led by assistant police inspector Vijay Salaskar under the instruction of senior inspector Rafiq Sheikh attached to Nagpada police station.
