NEW DELHI, January 17: Delhi Transport Minister Parvez Hashmi today announced 20 new bus routes connecting the Hastsal Assembly constituency to the rest of the Capital. ``The government has worked out a special plan for the safety and convenience of the commuters of Delhi,'' he said.Hashmi, while addressing a rally in Hastsal, said that there was a need for better coordination between the DTC and private bus operators. And apart from buses, the government will also put the Delhi Metro rail project on ``top priority''.Mukesh Sharma, the Congress MLA from Hastsal, also addressed the rally. He promised special facilities for senior citizens, widows and freedom fighters. To gain revenue, Sharma suggested that small shopping arcades be made on bus terminals. He also said that the residents of the area will form committees to make a list of all the problems and chalk out ways of solving them. Transport minister Hashmi said that a water line would be laid from Uttam Nagar bus terminal to Hastsal to take care of shortage in the coming summers.
