GURDASPUR, Dec 13: Gurdaspur police have seized a truck, JKC 2649 carrying 45 quintals of quot;Kher8221; wood worth Rs one lakh which was being smuggled from Jammu amp; Kashmir to Punjab and arrested Punjab police SPO Kashmir Singh and Bhupinder Singh alias Channi, a resident of Kathua, in this connection.

Disclosing this, Gurdaspur SSP Gaurav Yadav said here today that Kashmir Singh was smuggling wood and Jamp;K police constable Maskeen s/o Kasim Gajjar of Kathua was helping him.

Yadav said, on the tip off, Gurdaspur police had laid a special naka led by SHO Dhar Rattan Singh at T-point in Ucha Thara in Dhar yesterday, when the smuggled wood was seized. He said Kashmir Singh and Bhupinder Singh were arrested on the spot while Maskeen and three others fled. He said raids were being conducted to arrest them. Police have registered a case in Dhar police station.
