AMRITSAR, Nov 5: Gurcharan Singh Tohra, president, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has invited Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to participate in the tricentenary celebrations of Birth of Khalsa, scheduled to be held at Anandpur Shahib on April 14, 1999, on Baisakhi day. This was informed in a press release issued here today by the SGPC.

The release stated that a letter in this connection has been sent through Balbir Singh Pannu, leader of Sikh Jatha to Pakistan on October 30. It also informed that nearly 250 historical Sikh shrines were located in Pakistan which were being looked after by the Evacuee Trust Property Board, Government of Pakistan.

The SGPC chief has also invited descendants of Rai Bular and Bhai Mardana, devotees of Guru Nanak besides Pakistani writers and journalists to participate in the celebrations.

Souvenir section to be set up : The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee SGPC has decided to set up 8220;souvenir8221; section in the Sikh Reference Library, said Harjinder Singh Dalgir, director of the Sikh History Research Board here today.

He said the 8220;souvenirs8221; and 8220;abhinanadan granths8221; released in the honour of distinguished personalities including writers, journalists, scholars and political leaders would be kept in this section.

He appealed to various organisations to send two copies of the souvenirs and 8220;abhinandhan granths8221; to the library for the study of the visiting scholars.
