Junior doctors of all the seven medical colleges across Uttar Pradesh went on a strike today after some of their colleagues were injured in a clash with police recruits over reservation of seats on a running train — the Allahabad bound Meerut-Nauchandi Express — near Moradabad on Sunday night.Four Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel have been suspended. Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has ordered an inquiry into the incident, to be conducted by Moradabad District Collector K S Atoria. ‘‘Action will be taken against those found guilty after the probe is complete,’’ said Mulayam.Taking a strong note of the incident, Union Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav has demanded immediate dismissal of the involved Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) jawans.‘‘We have asked the UP Government to immediately dismiss the jawans involved in the outrageous incident. There appears to be no fault on the part of the doctors,’’ Laloo said in New Delhi. At least nine medicos and eight police recruits suffered injuries and had been admitted to hospitals, said Alok Sinha, principal secretary, Home. However, some junior doctors claimed that around 40 doctors were injured.
