BILASPUR, June 24: Vehicular traffic will remain closed on the National Highway between Bilaspur and Swarghat for five days in order to launch the second bailey bridge 50 mts long on Ghamrola tributary, according to the district magistrate.

Vehicles will not be allowed to ply from 7 a. m. on June 25 to 7 p. m. on June 29.

According to the notification, vehicles coming from Kiratpur Sahib towards Bilaspur would take the route via Nangal-Una-Bhota and Talai and vehicles going towards Kiratpur Sahib will follow the route via Ghumarwin, Bhota and Una, or via Arki and Kunihar. This order would be applicable to long-route passenger buses also. However, local buses would ply via Jamali, Deoth and Brahmpukhar road as one-way traffic.

Superintendent of police has been asked to ensure that orders are enforced.

Grant welcomed: President of the Himachal Panchayat Parishad and president of Zila Panchayat Parishad Dilaram Dhiman has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpyee for the Rs 200-cr grant.

In a statement issued here today, Dhiman hoped that Vajpayee would provide financial assistance for increasing the pace of development in rural areas of the state.

He urged Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to delegate powers to Panchayati Raj institutions to implement various programmes effectively.
