Industrialists in the city are having a gala time as they do not have to bother much about manipulating their documents.
For it is once in a blue moon that city8217;s income tax employees decline to work. Owing to the non-fulfilment of their demands, the employees have refused to go on surveys, conduct searches or raids till their demands are met. While employees declined to conduct surveys since October 1, raids and searches have also been stalled since November 1.
From April 2008 to September 2008, the income tax department had registered 23 per cent more revenue as compared to corrosponding period last year. The revenue will fall in the coming days as the staff is sitting idle these days.
The employees are seeking promotions, staff recruitments and more benefits as per the 6th Pay Commission.
8220;The circumstances are favourable for us these days. We are completely at ease,8221; said an industrialist on the condition of anonymity.
According to city traders, they are getting ample time to sort out their input and output costs and profits and hence they can better manage their books so as to remain updated incase anyone visits them whenever the surveys or raids resume.
Another hosiery unit owner in a lighter tone said, 8220;My hypertension is under control these days and I wish the protest by employees continues further, because even if we are have everything in order, the visit of I-T officials gives us a heartache.8221;
