The Winter session of Parliament ended on Friday. Both the Houses had 17 sittings each since November 15. The Rajya Sabha sat for 84 hours and the Lok Sabha for 90 hours. Disruptions caused by Nandigram, UP blasts, AIIMS Bill and the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary meant a loss of 18 hours for RS and 20 hours for LS. Attendance was low in both Houses on the last day, as many MPs had left for home states. Young MPs were no different
Supriya Sule (NCP), Kanimozhi (DMK), Jay Panda (BJD) have gone back to their respective states. Panda therefore even missed a starred question listed jointly with Pramila Bohidar—the first of the day—to the Health Minister. The question was whether the Government had any action plan to “create awareness among the general public about the immense benefits of breast feeding”.
