They are back, all of them — Woody, Buzz, the dolls, the penguin, Mr and Mrs Hot Potato and their proud owner, Andy. And everyone is invited to “officially freak out” with the gang. This animated Walt Disney film is a technically improved version of the first one and is equally entertaining.
What is really cool about this movie is the final rescue sequence at the airport. We’ve seen our Bollywood and even some Hollywood actors do this before but it has never been so convincing. Woody rescuing Jessie from the luggage hold of a taxing aircraft is, well, cool. For starters, the toys can fit into the hold of the aircraft.
The other really nice thing about these toys is that they are so real. Right from the smile to the little jigs they do, from the songs they sing to the romance, they are just like us. We have Pixar animation studio to thank for that. And we have Tom Hanks and Woody Allen to thank for the voices. Hanks really brings Woody alive and Allen makes sure Buzz keeps pace.
Everyone who has seen Toy Story doesn’t need to be told that the sequel is worth it. For those who haven’t seen the first one, here’s a chance to discover what toys do when you leave them alone.
