Top golfers for Ladies Open

Parneeta Grewal, the local challenge will stake her claim for the title, as will Ayesha Kapoor, who is also a strong contender to make the team for the Asia-Pacific juniors.

The winner for the championship will be decided over 54 holes stroke play. On the first day there will be a lucky partners competition and each player will compete along with a partner, picked out of a hat.

The heat will also play a major factor in deciding how many golfers make it to the final round. With temperatures soaring it will be tough for some of the players who to give their best.

Shruti Khanna, will be playing her first competition after representing India in the Queen Sirikit, held recently in New Zealand.

Shruti is also confident of bagging the top slot. “I have been playing well and hope to give my best."

A tournament that marks the end of the ladies golfing calender, this event holds special significance for the juniors and sub-juniors as it is a qualifying round for the Asia-Pacific Junior Golf Championship.

There shall be an exhibition of good golf as the criteria for selection demands that the juniors (15 to 18) produce scores of 6 under or less each day. The sub-juniors (u-14), will have to play 10 over or less to be considered for the Indian team.

Chandigarh is fielding more than twenty players while nine golfers are expected from Delhi. Some golfers are also coming from Patiala and Chennai.
