TN DGP B.P. Nailwal today said that there was no plan to arrest Union Minister of State for Non-Conventional Energy Sources and MDMK leader M. Kannappan under the POTA for his alleged pro-LTTE speeches.

‘‘There is no such move,’’ he told mediapersons at the St. Thomas Mount police station after inspecting material seized during a drive launched by the Chengai East prohibition enforcement police personnel against distillation, transport and sale of illicit arrack.

However, state police was closely monitoring activities of those violating the POTA provisions. ‘‘We are alert to the developments,’’ he said.
