AHMEDABAD, Aug 16: In two different raids by the Special Vigilance Squad about 13 persons were arrested from Ahmedabad and Vadodara districts for illegal possession of chemicals.

In a raid in Ahmedabad district, the squad comprising Police Inspector R B Rana and Sub Inspector R B Parmar among others, arrested seven persons with 5,450 litres of chemicals. According to the State control room, squad officials raided Ganesh Process Factory in Vacheda farm in Kamod village in Ahmedabad district and recovered 28 barrels of 200 litres each. The chemical was kept for sale without permission. The Aslali police have registered a case and have arrested Badribhai Vaishnao, Babubhia Vaishnao, Jaganathdas Nanudas Vairagi and four others.

Meanwhile, in another raid by the squad in Baroda Bittumen Damar Factory in Nandesari GIDC police recovered 4,000 litres of illegal furnace oil. Sqaud officials arrested Shaukathussain G Malek, Kalubhai U Shaikh, Bishnubhai D Patani, Irfan Usman Shaikh, Abidhussain U Malek and Januddin Shaikh. Chani police in Vadodara district have registered a case and are investigating. The vigilance squad officials arrested 16 persons under Gambling Act.
