Temperatures drop across Gujarat: Amreli 8.6°C, Rajkot 9.4°C; Naliya lowest at 4.8 °C

The maximum temperatures were between 22.7 degree Celsius in Gandhinagar to 29.2 degrees Celsius in Surat.

Naliya in Kutch district shivered at 4.8 degrees Celsius on Friday, the lowest minimum temperature recorded in Gujarat, also the lowest of the season, so far. Temperatures plunged in barely 10 days, as Naliya had recorded a minimum of 12.6 degree Celsius on December 30.

At 4.8 degrees Celsius, Naliya was also 4.8 degrees lower than the normal minimum temperature.

Other coldest places were Amreli at 8.6 degrees—-2.7 degrees lower than normal —- Rajkot 9.4 degrees Celsius (3.1 degrees below normal), Deesa 10.1 degree Celsius (0.1 degrees below normal), Gandhinagar 10.8 degree Celsius (0.2 degrees below normal), Bhuj at 11.2 degrees (0.4 degrees below normal), Ahmedabad 11.7 degrees (0.6 degrees below normal), Dahod 11.7 degrees, Kandla 11.9 degrees (2 degrees below normal) and Porbandar 12.8 degrees (1.4 degrees below normal).

“Minimum temperatures fell appreciably to markedly in parts over Kutch; fell appreciably in parts over North Gujarat region; no large change over rest of the region. Minimum temperatures were below normal to appreciably below normal in parts over Saurashtra region,” observed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum temperatures too were 1-4 degrees below normal across the state. The maximum temperatures were between 22.7 degree Celsius in Gandhinagar to 29.2 degrees Celsius in Surat.
