Every face at the civic hospitals of Mumbai spoke of anxiety and endless wait and pain. 8220;They entered the building. Climbed up the parapet of the opposite building, flung their guns on us. They killed my family, I could do nothing. My mother passed away few minutes after she was hit on her chest, my father gave up instantaneously,8221; recalled Hussain Hararawala 32, who witnessed the murder of both his parents with shrapnel injuries all over his bodies. Hararawalas were the first few to be attacked on Wednesday in the bylanes of Colaba market.

Sangeeta Sardar, her voice choking, unmindful of the tears rolling down her cheeks, pushed her husband Niranjan Sardar on his wheelchair at the city8217;s JJ Hospital. Sangeeta has splinters in her body, but she has no time to attend to herself. 8220;My husband is deaf and he has suffered two bullet injuries on his ears. I want to save him, I can think about myself later.8221; Sangeeta and her husband were on their way to Akola.

Bodies reached the JJ Hospital throughout the day. While the severely injured were the first one to be treated, many with minor injuries remained unattended for couple of hours. 8220;He went to look for me and got shot at,8221; said Mangesh Kathar, brother of Sanjay Kathar who is seriously injured.

One of the cops on duty at a hospital lashed out at the media. 8220;You media went overboard; the terrorist in there saw everything on the screens put up at the Cama Hospital and targeted our officers.8221;

8220;We have received 25 bodies, of which 16 have undergone post-mortem. We have four unidentified bodies. The number of seriously injured persons who have been brought in till 6 pm could be anywhere between 132 and 135,8221; said Dr Radhakrishnana of JJ hospital.

Two severely injured foreign nationals and an NRI businessman who were brought to JJ Hospital at 4:45 am were later taken to the Jaslok Hospital. Harsh Patel 29, a UK national who received bullet injury in his chest and right arm, is being treated at the Jaslok Hospital after he started bleeding following multiple surgeries at the JJ Hospital. Colonel Mohanty, chief medical officer of Jaslok Hospital, said, 8220;We are yet to get in touch with his family. He has managed to save his passport, but his belongings seem to have been misplaced.8221;

A British couple, Michael and Dianne Murpy, were the last of the six people who were shifted to the hospital early morning. 8220;Dianne is coping fine, Michael is very critical,8221; added Mohanty.

Zameer Haji Ismail Dalal was waiting for the Siddheshwar Solapur Express at CST station at 10 pm, to return with his family to Solapur after dropping his elder brother at the airport for Haj. 8220;Suddenly, we saw bullets flying out of nowhere. I was unhurt, except for a bullet that grazed my arm. One of my brothers, Haji Ezaj Dalal 39, was shot through the heart. My brother-in-law Azizbhai Rampure 55 was shot in the back,8221; he said. Both died instantly. Four other relatives were admitted in St George Hospital. 8220;My mother Dilshad Dalal was shot in the hip, Shabbir Dalal 45 shot in his shin and Imran Bagwan 25 shot through the hip. I don8217;t know how I will go back to Solapur with two dead bodies and four injured people,8221; said Ismail.

Another grieving visitor at the hospital was Ziauddin Khan 36. His brother ran a tailoring shop called Khubsons in front of Leopold8217;s and was shot through his head.

One of those who died in the spray of bullets at CST was homeguard Mukesh Jadhav. His brother Nandan had come to collect the body at St George. 8220;He was only 23 years old,8221; he said.
