
BULAWAYO, Sept 28: Zimbabwe were 152 for three in their second innings at the close of play on the fourth day of the second and final cricket Test against the visiting New Zealanders, here, today.
Zimbabwe openers Grant Flower and Gavin Rennie put together a quickfire half-century stand but the Test looked to be heading for a draw today.At tea on the fourth day Zimbabwe were 62 without loss 8211; a lead of 120 over the visitors. New Zealand8217;s tail had wagged earlier in the day to foil Zimbabwe8217;s efforts to post a healthy first-innings lead.
Eighth-wicket pair Chris Harris and Daniel Vettori carried their overnight stand to 112 before being parted.
Vettori, who had started the day on five, scored a maiden Test 50 and played with such freedom that he had joined Harris on 70 at the interval after giving his senior partner a 30-run start. Harris8217;s 280-minute stay was finally ended in the third over after lunch when he was bowled by Adam Huckle.Vettori was in a hurry to reach his century with only debutant David Sewell for company. He went down the pitch to Huckle but misjudged the flight and was caught low at mid-off.
