VALSAD, NOV 7: Of late, India’s most famous run machine, Sachin Tendulkar, appeared to have developed a snag. He, however, boomed into top gear with a scorching display at the Sardar Patel Stadium, here, today. “I desperately needed some practice and it was quite satisfying in that context,” remarked the Mumbai skipper, who fell short of his first-class best of 179 against West Indies in the Nagpur Test in 1994.

However, deep inside, there was a sense of dissatisfaction in not getting to the 200-mark. “I need to concentrate harder,” was his response when his attention was drawn to it later in the day. “I know I could have done better, but…,” he added wistfully.Commenting on Mumbai’s status in the ongoing Ranji Trophy encounter against Gujarat, Tendulkar said, “We should win it comfortably.”
