
Prominent Hindu and Muslim leaders have worked out a temporary solution to the issue of the gate to a graveyard over which communal clashes broke out last week in the city, official sources said.
Under the interim agreement reached at a meeting of the leaders of both the communities at the district magistrate8217;s residence yesterday, the iron gate to the Shahjamal graveyard would remain as such but would be kept open under police vigilance round-the-clock, they said.
District magistrate S M Bobde said that the representatives of the Shahjamal graveyard committee and the office-bearers of the Hindu cremation ground would meet again after a few days to find a permanent solution.
Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad has constituted a 8216; fact finding committee8217; comprising leaders Ramnath Mahendroo and Rajendra Singh 8216;Pankaj8217;, besides Bajrang Dal chief Prakash Sharma to unravel the 8216;8216;truth8217;8217; behind the riots.
