
VADODARA, July 29: Member of Parliament from Chhotaudepur, Narayan Rathwa along with MLAs of the Pavi-Jetpur, Naswadi and Chhotaudepur constituencies and 500-odd telephone subscribers from various rural pockets of the district recently met Vadodara Telecom District General Manager Rakesh Babu to discuss various problems regarding telephone services in rural areas.
Rathwa reportedly took up the case of Saloj village in Pavi-Jetpur where no Public Call Office PCO had been provided for installation of the MARR system despite orders from the DoT Chief General Manager. Babu is said to have assured Rathwa that the installation of a 12 MPR line would be done at the earliest following which the PCO would be started in the village.
DoT sources told Express Newsline that while the meeting between Rathwa and Babu was cordial, public representatives and MLAs had expressed their dissatisfaction with the DoT8217;s services at large. 8220;A majority of the complaints were about the poor connectivity with urban Vadodara and the frequent failure of the Multi-Access Radio Relay MARR system despite the fact that many of the MARR lines had been diverted to cables,8221; a department staffer said.
The meeting, which was also attended by DoT8217;s officers concerned, also highlighted the department8217;s development and expansion programmes in Chhotaudepur, Sinor, Karjan, Dabhoi, Tilakwada, Sankheda and Pavi-Jetpur talukas.
