A teenaged boy alleged on Friday that he was sodomised by a Delhi Police personnel in a park in the national capital.

The 17-year-old boy claimed he was sexually assaulted in a park in Kashmere Gate last night.

He was waiting for a bus when the policeman, whose identity is yet to be revealed, took him to a park and allegedly sodomised him.

“I was standing at the bus stop when a policeman came and accused me of being a thief. When I protested and told him that I am not a thief, he took money from my pocket and asked me to get alcohol for him,” the victim claimed.

When the boy refused, the policeman took him to a nearby park and allegedly sodomised him, he said. After the boy’s family approached the police, a medical examination was conducted which confirmed sodomy. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.

Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said the designation gives law enforcement “enhanced powers to combat a group that has instilled fear through violence and intimidation”.
