The technical institutes in the state have lauded the efforts of the All India Council for Technical Education AICTE for the different decisions it has taken to ensure the optimum utilisation of resources and reduction in the running-cost of institutions.
Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association PUTIA President Dr J S Dhaliwal said the permission for conduction evening engineering and polytechnic colleges would lead to the best use of infrastructure.
Dr Zora Singh, senior vice-president, PUTIA, added that the concept of having an integrated campus with multiple disciplines would allow the common use of facilities like library and computer lab in the big campuses for the morning and evening sessions in the college.
Anshu Kataria, media secretary, PUTIA, said that the 20 per cent land relaxation comes as a major relief for the existing and new institutions.
He welcomed the move for permitting BBA and BCA classes in the existing colleges for MBA and MCA.
PUTIA members also appreciated the AICTE for the ground work done in calculating a national average ratio of the number of seats to the existing population.
