AMBALA, May 2: Resentment prevails amongst teachers of university, government colleges and aided colleges of the state for not granting revised pay-scales on as recommended by the Fifth Pay Commission. The college teachers have been continuously expressing concern over the continued indifferent attitude of the state government for not accepting their demands and implementing the new pay-scales.

The association leaders president Harjit Singh and general secretary Sudarshan Kaso said Chief Minister Bansi Lal had announced that the government would implement the Commission8217;s report as such, but he had backed out of his promise in granting the new grades to them. They said following a nation-wide strike by the teachers, an agreement was reached between the Union Human Resource Development Minister and teachers8217; federation AIFUCTO with regard to granting teachers the new grades as per recommendations of the UGC and its copies were sent to the education secretaries of each state for immediate implementation.

The state government, the leaders pointed out, had not taken any decision, while other states had not only granted the revised pay-scales, but also accepted the pension demand of the non-government-aided college teachers. Both the leaders urged the Chief Minister to personally intervene in the matter.
