After booking MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi for threatening to behead exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, the city police is likely to register a case against Majlis Bachao Tehreek MBT leader Majidullah Khan Farhad for issuing similar threats.

Hours after the attack on Nasrin on Thursday, Farhad, at a press conference in Old City, had issued a similar threat to kill Nasreen if she entered the city again. 8220;We approached the magistrate on Saturday and are awaiting the permission to register a case,8221; South Zone DCP B Shivdhar Reddy said. The police have to take permission from a magistrate if they have to register cases based on media reports and video footage.

Meanwhile, the Punjagutta police, which obtained the video footage of the threat made by Akbaruddin, will record the statement of eyewitnesses as part of gathering evidence against the MIM leader. 8220;If we come across any evidence against him in our investigation, we will arrest him,8221; a senior police official said.

Meanwhile, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board AIMPLB on Monday said 8220;no Muslim can tolerate blasphemy of Islam8221; and criticised Taslima for her writings.

8220;Though we welcome criticism, abusive language against Prophet Mohammed is intolerable,8221; AIMPLB Assistant General Secretary M A Rahim Quraishi said.

8220;She should not have been invited,8221; he stated and said 8220;certain characters in her novels are highly objectionable8221;.
