KANPUR, April 4: The Haryana Ranji Trophy team had not yet recovered from their shock defeat to Uttar Pradesh when they were dealt with another blow. Coach-cum-manager Sarkar Talwar dropped a bombshell by announcing his decision to quit the job.

Talwar was the pillar around which the Haryana team was built. He immediately took over as its coach after retiring as a player in 1988. Ever since he has been trying hard in his endeavour of making the team a force at the national level.

A Ranji Trophy triumph 1990-91, winning of the Irani Cup 1991-92, apart from being runners-up twice in the Wills Trophy was a just reward for that.
