You play a Punjabi character in Ranbir Rano. Since you are from a similar background do you relate to it on a personal level?
Of course. Firstly, the language is in my blood. I also relate to the joint-family system, the small town set up and the family values which I grew up in, form a strong part of this serial too.

What8217;s your role like?
I play a negative character that8217;s extremely superstitious and straightforward. But it is her disturbed childhood that has transformed her into an extremely insecure person. Her mother died when she was young and she was brought up in poor financial circumstances. Being the eldest in the family, she has her basics right, but she is a little insecure.

You wear salwar kameez, lots of jewellery and braided hair, in this show.
Yes, it is strange to me see me in a new look. But believe me there was a time in my life, when I only wore salwar kameez and churidar kurtas. So this look isn8217;t really new to me.

You became popular because of the negative roles you portrayed. Do you miss playing Pallavi and Mandira?
Mandira is one character which I will never miss. Mandira was a fictional character. There cannot be anyone like her in real life. But Pallavi was one of my better characters. She was very real. And I will also miss playing the character because there was a lot of emotion and intrigue involved in her.

You have done a variety of roles. What8217;s been the toughest genre to do?
Every role I take up is difficult for me. Even in Ranbir Rano when I first started playing the character, I was really nervous and I thought I will not be able to portray it well. It has been a similar situation with my previous characters.

Would you do a Banegi Apni Baat again?
I would love to. I have been waiting for this opportunity forever. But they don8217;t make such serials any more. I wonder why.

Future projects?
Right now, I just want to focus on this serial and once I am a little comfortable with the character I will take up other projects. I am also busy with my play Double Deal which is taking up a lot of my time. And over the last couple of months I think my performance too has improved tremendously.
