Nashik civic body panel visits cityA delegation of Nashik Municipal Corporation, led by mayor Ashok Divan, visited Surat on Tuesday and held talks with officials of the Surat Municipal Corporation. The government will involve registered organisations, non-governmental organisation, the Rotary Club among others to hold camps in tribal areas. BJP state vice-president Nalin Bhatt and state secretary Thakore Desai will elicit councillors' opinion about candidates for the post of the mayor and the deputy mayor. The tenure of both had expired on June 30, but in view of the MIC system, elections were deferred. Congress Councillor Bhupendra Solanki had challenged the postponement of the elections in the High Court, where Civic lawyer had assured the court that the new mayor and deputy mayor will be elected positively on July 28.2-month trainingEducated Adivasi youth of the district, interested in joining a two-month training programme conducted by the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Ahmedabad have been directed to contact the administration at the earliest. Candidates should have at least cleared SSC, according to a release issued here. The institute will bear the boarding and lodging expenses for 20 such candidates.SMC contestsThe Surat Municipal Corporation will conduct patriotic song, group song and marriage occasion song competitions on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15. The competitions will be held in three categories of primary schools, secondary schools and the open category. Entry forms are available from the cultural affairs department of the civic body, according to a release issued by the corporation. The last date to submit entry forms is August 3. Top
