Heavy rains in South Gujarat
The weather office here has forecast heavy rains in parts of South Gujarat, Diu and Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli in the next 48 hours. An official release said that information in the context had been rushed to concerned authorities to prevent any untoward incident.

SSC exams
Principal A S Ravlani of the G N V High School has notified that those appearing for the SSC exams in October ’98 can fill in their application forms at the school on June 18 from 11 a.m.

ST raid on unit
A sale Tax department team conducted a search on a mechanical engineering unit in the Makarpura-GIDC area on Monday. According to official information, various documents indicating clandestine removal of furnished goods were also seized by the team headed by Assistant Commissioner Naresh Thakur

.Hunger strike
Members of various student unions went on a hunger strike on Monday outside the Faculty of Commerce, M S University, to protest against the decision of the Syndicate to disallow students who have secured ATKT to appear for the final year examinations. While the striking students demanded reconsideration of the decision, another section of the union welcomed the varsity’s move.

Van’ mahotsav
The forest department has made elaborate arrangements for the ensuing 49th Van’mahotsav to be celebrated in mid-July in the district. An official release stated that 71 lakh saplings had been distributed among farm workers and nursery farmers. District Deputy Conservator of Forest G S Pandey has stated that the well-groomed saplings are being distributed free of charge to social fora and 50 to 90 paise was being charged from individuals. Music function
